Keeping up with the Grimleys....

.... no not that annoying Black Country based "comedy" starring Noddy Holder, and Les Dennis's ex and talent show blubber Amanda Holden......but the track in the South Midlands, on the outskirts of Worcester.
Grimley Raceway....

Despite its outlaw status, Grimley has been hosting stock car racing for around half a century, opening in 1962 as a racetrack within a sand and gravel pit. It has a thriving Outlaw scene, and probably has the same amount of active drivers as Bristol or a St Day. It's in a prime area for Brisca boys - the proximity to Westcountry also makes it a commutable track, and would have enough Midlanders to justify its existence in the Brisca fold... Here's a few pics from their website www.grimleyraceway.co.uk

Top Man in the "Outlaw" formula they have, is 80's F2 driver Geoff Bunn (930) who drives a dated HCD chassis. He's probably more known as the man who is constantly discussing and chewing the fat with me at a  Midlands race way near you.

It seems to be a star car retirement home as the 437 car, is the ex Tim Farrell (ex667) tilter "supercar", which he sold when he packed up F2 and went playing with the Tractors.

I'm pretty certain 25 is Nick Lane, who bought the Lampmobile, which is a little naughty considering he was racing Brisca this year!

So why hasn't it come over. Apparently the promoter prefers to do his own thing, but realistically this is the kind of track that should be being approached to join the flock - this is where Brisca often shoots itself in the foot, a bit of give and take and we could have another track....

Something to ponder on as we move into the new year..... A list of potential tracks - this could be a regular feature....
