Testing! Testing! 1 2 3!

So the covers have been unleashed for another season and it was a rare weekend of testing, as the last minute opportunity to test the new motors in new guises. So whether it was Taunton, Arena, Cowdie or Muddyhall, practices were thrown down...

So for me, a cheeky trip to Taunton to have a look at the new beasts and owners. 10 F2's all told, not bad for a last minute addition.

First up with a new RCE is Chris Mikulla (522). The Westcountry red top is out with another immaculate looking car and was well satisfied with its initial shakedowns, trading in a 12.8 second lap, which its remarkably quick indeed.
Next the whereabouts of the 2013 Bradbury RCE where made apparent when ex National Hot Rod star Sean Porter (223) decided to take another attempt at F2....
At the end of the last season, the ex Mikulla car ended up in the hands of Simon Harraway (83), now with a few tweaks and the like
Leaving the Motorworld behind and joining the RCE stable was Jamie Avery (126) Incidentally, he ended up being the fastest car round St Day on the Sunday
Julian Coomber (828) gave his ex Mallings DK car a fresh lick of paint, ready for his full debut
Fresh for a season of crashing, 3rd generation F2 driver Gary Sillifant (627) came out with another RCE. Mr Richardson must have got his inoculations in order if he is heading this far west!

The forecasted wet weather that had threatened to spoil St Day's practice effort failed to materialize, however the newly installed turnstile shed was still standing, however, some of the cladding had been blown down by the harsh Cornish wind which befell the West Cornwall track. Considerably more cars were here, but due to the more Cornish skew towards the grid, it was little surprise.

Another of the temp license drivers, Matt Brewer (206) looked impressive in the ex Kitson car. His old man was Chris, an ex Westworld racer who raced in the late 90's under the same number.

And another blast from the past (and explaining to all those not old enough to have witnessed his first incarnation) was the then regular receiver of Roseveareqsue banter, butcher Neil Langworthy (740), who was out in the Batten car. Indeed, his mechanic is a youngish chap called Mervyn. Langworthy last raced back in 1993/4, and the Newton Abbot revivalists have a new member to their burgeoning crew to join Sansom and Thomas...
Also on the comeback trail, although the gap not as long as Langworthy, is Ross Rowe (105). Fresh from catching a Focus alight in the Run to the Real Sun, and stirring up his brother Liam (605). He too now dates a Deeble, and it is his missus' cousin Liam (785)'s under utilised Motorworld which he offered to make go faster.
Ryan Hoskin (991)'s Higman has had a winter revamp with a few improvements being made.
Last year's Mr Unlucky was Paul Moss (979). This year he's following the family tradition of attempting to do every track in the country. He has a new Higman car at his disposal, aswell as the ex Higman of father Jeremy as the team shale romper.

With the Jamie Avery (126) Motorworld now surplus to requirements, and Jamie Beere's ex Jones Higman looking even more tired than it did when Dad Richard got it of the Londoners, the move for Jamie to the Motorworld was there for the taking.

And now an exclusive, the first ever Stox cast, where the movers and shakers will be interviewed with it. The thinking behind it is that audio interviewing and making radio packages was my first love, and well, like when this started, no one else is doing it, so here goes!

A more concise indiviual interview will be on the blog for now on... Hang loose people, not long now!
